Dr. Anne Marie Stilwell and her husband, Timothy M. Gilman, have breathed new life into a historic H.H. Richardson House in Staten Island. After purchasing the property in 2006, the couple transformed the building into Still Well Pain Management. However, it was the recent COVID-19 pandemic that inspired Dr. Stilwell to expand her medical practice and open Still Well Med Spa on the upper floors of the building. With the support of her husband, who recently retired, Dr. Stilwell has created a modern and innovative med spa that offers a range of aesthetic treatments and services.
A Historic Home Saved from Demolition
The H.H. Richardson House, located at 45 McClean Ave. in Arrochar, almost faced demolition before receiving a New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission designation in 2004. The community rallied to save the 19th Century home, which was built by renowned architect Henry Hobson Richardson. Dr. Stilwell and Mr. Gilman purchased the property and have since restored and repurposed it for their medical practices.
From Pain Management to Aesthetics
Dr. Stilwell, who has been practicing pain management at Still Well Pain Management for 18 years, found herself on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, treating patients at the Javitz Center field hospital in Manhattan. During this time, she also began training in aesthetics and saw the potential to make a difference in people’s lives by helping them look and feel better. This newfound passion led to the opening of Still Well Med Spa.
